girls

kate,

aggy,

and i.
all doing something a little bit silly. this was ages ago when kate had just come home from six weeks in spain, and aggy and i spent the morning shopping for summer dresses because the bbc told us it was going to be a perfect day for sitting in the garden. they lied.

hackney fun-times

broadway, all gussied up for VE day. a few weeks ago now.

i finally, finally went to the geffrye museum the other day (after walking past it for about eighteen months now). they have the most glorious garden, filled with small girls making faces.

mallory and lou, up on a roof (mal's roof).

somewhere in scotland

i feel the need to be a bit secretive here, mainly because dad had to sign a disclaimer but also because this is the personal space of someone i respect and greatly admire. for those of you who know what this is i say : ha ha, i got to go there and you didn't! and for those of you who don't, simply enjoy. the photographs don't do the garden any great justice, but i was a little overwhelmed to be trying too hard.

(detail love).

making the most of the weather

we had a very busy saturday at work but were rewarded with an exceptionally tasty barbeque on la terrasse at matt and lizzie's place.

matt "chef" mills

my goodness, there was so much food, so much meat. chef marinated some pork chops for 36 hours, max (in the hat) stole many sausages from work and acquired some prawns too and i won't bore you with all the other food we had. too much. definitely met my meat quota for the year though.

lizzie, nicola and hattie.

pockets. what a dude.

sam, with max's gramophone. that was the teeny window we had to climb out of to la terrasse.

a day well spent

finally, a day off that was sunny (though still chilly), and fun and hilarious. i spent it with soph but started here at leila's. doesn't look like much but is one of my favourite places; they sell fresh produce, sausages, couverture chocolate and many picnic-y type things. big plans for summer fun.

and then we kind of accidentally ended up at this madonna exhibition. it was so funny. all of the stuff (costumes, magazines, albums, barbies, merchandise etc etc) came from a private collection and it was really quite incredible that one person could incite such fervour (and one person would spend so much buying into that).

the costumes from evita were beautiful. though the curation and the venue left a little to be desired.

the guy in the background was taking a picture of himself with a picture of madonna...

then on to rochelle's canteen for luncheon.

it's in an art school and is only open for three hours every weekday. food was delicious, service fantastic and the light is simply amazing. i'm coming back as often as possible.

oh, this is my garden. it's shared between the row houses all down my street.

and my backdoor.

a familiar sight. i'd hate to say i've found a replacement for 78s but i've certainly found a substitute in rough trade. they may have exclusive mix cds and live recordings that you get free with some records, but they don't have a crew like grumpy, froggy, (formerly)bandana guy and smiley (though he's been awol for a couple of years now).
