tron

i've been talking about tron a lot recently.

most (no, all) people think i'm crazy because of it.

but i know what they're missing out on.

speaking of nostalgia

i must say that i'm not surprised that ellie and i have actually always been this stylish.

(thanks for the photos mama)

dead duck

i've just had three of my scarves dry cleaned. i'm pretty sure this is the cleanest this scarf has ever been. i'm also pretty sure this is my favourite. i'm not sure whether that's because it's the first one i bought for myself (second hand). or because it's vintage. or maybe it's because i think that blue is the colour of my soul (absolutely my favourite colour).

which ones are you?

you've probably seen this before. relatedly, i read recently that marc jacobs describes the girl he designs his diffusion line 'marc by marc jacobs' for, as "a girl who knows she's a little fucked up". make of that what you will, but i thought it was fantastic.

two birds...

speaking of stones, my desire for a black coat and a new tweed are now satisfied.

put on your red shoes

ha! i'm in cleo (australian) this month. a supremely old photograph of me wearing my two favourite designers; cardigan by elle johnston (menswear) and silk tee-shirt by laura geddes (graduate collection). congrats to emma from dropstitch too, she's probably the nicest person working in the perth fashion scene.

oh, if anyone can read what it says, i'm dying of curiousity over here.

insomnia

can't sleep. my eyes say 'yes' but my head says 'hang on a sec, i'm just going to think about this for a bit longer.' feel like i've been punched in the face. blerg. luckily though, i spent my tips on magazines so i shall be entertained.

edit : it was a full moon, apparently no one slept.

new arrivals

whoops. my two favourite things, together at last. you can't see on the box, but they changed the horse (in the logo) into a zebra. genius.

the long-anticipated stella dress from richard nicoll a/w 09/10. it's true ever-lasting love.

and the darling magnus mark bradbury, the first of my second cousins! i didn't get a decent shot of him with his own mother (my cousin, emma), so here he is with mine.

arrival

back from scandinavia earlier than expected. and no, this isn't me. but, i did buy this dress in grey at a hugely discounted price. ellie and i commented (way back in september last year when trawling the internet for fashion week stuff) on how lovely this dress is - simple and effective. more scandi stuff to come, i need to work myself up to down-sizing all those photos.

so long soph #1

when soph found me outside climpson's this morning, i was planning to walk to the tate and see where the day took me. instead, soph and i wandered through london spending her money. she's done very well for herself.

after a restorative lunch at rose bakery, we wandered through soho to milk bar for coffee and our take-away carrot cake. this is the kind of day you dream of having and i'm quite excited for the day when i can be completely frivolous with my money too.

dunks

new shoes! liberty print dunks. soph and i had planned to go to liberty when they were first released but we both figured they were out of reach, price wise. but there they were at the comme des garcons guerilla store, in my size no less, how could i resist.

ellie found a pair of the other ones in her size later on that day.

we're such sisters.

ha!

acne store.

these are my new friends.

procrastination

god only knows why it took me this long, but i finally have enough coat hangers for all items that needed to be hung. i can actually see all my clothes at once now, a very beautiful thing!

one day

this was a while ago now, tuesday maybe?

was on my way to the design museum and unsure if i was on the right track. found a ship though.

hello, town hall!

and the hussein chalayan display out the front of the museum.

a day well spent

finally, a day off that was sunny (though still chilly), and fun and hilarious. i spent it with soph but started here at leila's. doesn't look like much but is one of my favourite places; they sell fresh produce, sausages, couverture chocolate and many picnic-y type things. big plans for summer fun.

and then we kind of accidentally ended up at this madonna exhibition. it was so funny. all of the stuff (costumes, magazines, albums, barbies, merchandise etc etc) came from a private collection and it was really quite incredible that one person could incite such fervour (and one person would spend so much buying into that).

the costumes from evita were beautiful. though the curation and the venue left a little to be desired.

the guy in the background was taking a picture of himself with a picture of madonna...

then on to rochelle's canteen for luncheon.

it's in an art school and is only open for three hours every weekday. food was delicious, service fantastic and the light is simply amazing. i'm coming back as often as possible.

oh, this is my garden. it's shared between the row houses all down my street.

and my backdoor.

a familiar sight. i'd hate to say i've found a replacement for 78s but i've certainly found a substitute in rough trade. they may have exclusive mix cds and live recordings that you get free with some records, but they don't have a crew like grumpy, froggy, (formerly)bandana guy and smiley (though he's been awol for a couple of years now).
